RIP Cornelia Frances (aka Morag)
Australian actress Cornelia Frances has died at the age of 77, after losing her battle with cancer.
Frances was best known for her role as the no-nonsense lawyer, Morag Stewart, on popular Aussie soap Home and Away.
Morag was Alf Stewart’s onscreen sister, who always had a habit of coming to the rescue when a Summer Bay resident needed legal assistance.
Ray Meagher (who plays Alf), recently expressed his respect and sadness for Cornelia and her family. “Cornie was an incredibly valued member of our cast for many, many, years. She’ll be sadly missed.”
The cast and crew had a moment of silence on the Home and Away set for the much-loved actress this morning. Other Australian celebrities have taken to social media to honour and praise her.
“In a way, she paved the way for women in Australian TV, always playing such strong characters,” said fellow veteran Home and Away actor Lynne McGranger. “Her family and friends are in our thoughts.”
