Ash's exit confirmed
George Mason is leaving after three years on Aussie's biggest soap.
The Kiwi-born actor joined the Home and Away cast back in 2014.
His character Martin “Ash” Ashford moved to the Bay to escape his criminal past and live a quiet life.
Ash quickly became the show's favourite bad boy.
He was on the straight and narrow earlier this year, in a steady relationship with the respectable Dr. Tori Morgan.
However his life took a turn when his close friend Kat Chapman was killed in a car accident, while pregnant with Ash’s child.
The loss sent him on a downward spiral, consumed as he was by the need for revenge. So it seemed it was only a matter of time before Ash left in search of another fresh start.
George Mason has reportedly already filmed his final scenes, which will air in the next few months. The details of his exit are yet to be confirmed.
Mason describes his time on Home and Away as a dream job. “To play a main character on such a big television show, it’s been overwhelming.”
He’s currently in New Zealand filming Daffodils, a local movie rendition of the critically-acclaimed stage play.
Home and Away airs weeknights at 5.30pm on TVNZ 2. Stream the latest episodes right here.
