The Nguyen family hail from Sydney.
They comprise of dad Davy, mum Sandra, and teenage daughters Angel and Trinity.
With a true fusion of cultures, the Nguyens mix Davy’s Vietnamese heritage with Sandra’s Maltese background for a flavour hit to please all palates.
The young Nguyens, Angel and Trinity, are full of confidence and energy.
While the females might outnumber Davy, he keeps the girls in check in the kitchen.
Davy came to Australia as an eight-year-old refugee, leaving his mother and father and three younger brothers behind in Vietnam.
Having experienced this hardship and overcome numerous hurdles, his energy and determination is infectious.
Sandra is the family perfectionist. She loves Italian cooking and the flavours of her childhood, but is equally adept at cooking a big batch of Vietnamese beef pho.
Year 11 student Angel (Angelique) is chief taste-tester in the Nguyen household, while sister Trinity says she’s the noisiest and most competitive.
The girls have a cooking roster during the week so they get a lot of practice, also training up their younger sister Siobhan.
Davy says their motivation for entering Family Food Fight is to not only become Australia’s Number One Food Family, but also to inspire young people and migrants to make their dreams come true.
Above all else, the Nguyens hope to inspire young families and their children to get into the kitchen and explore different types of cuisine together.
