How does the remake of Dirty Dancing stack up against the 1987 original?
Nobody puts Baby in the corner.
Dirty Dancing is back!
Patrick Swayze, high trousers, white shirt, coiffed hair - still iconic after all these years.
And Jennifer Grey's Baby, so naive, so innocent and so ready to dance with Swayze's Johnny.
30 years on, and an all-star remake, starring Little Miss Sunshine's Abigail Breslin as Baby, and newcomer Colt Prattes as Johnny hits TVNZ OnDemand exclusively from May 25th. The remake also has Will & Grace star Debra Messing, Pussycat Dolls' Nicole Scherzinger, Modern Family's Sarah Hyland, Sons of Anarchy's Kate Sagal and Star Wars legend Billy Dee Williams among its cast.
But you want to know if the remake will recreate some of those scenes you loved back in the day....and how they look.
Well, wonder no more.
There's nothing more sizzling than the first time Baby and Johnny dance after meeting at a resort in the Catskill Mountains.
Love lift us up where we belong....
Yep, that famous water lift is still here - and panic not, Johnny's still not wearing a shirt.
Looks like Breslin and Prattes are pretty much channeling the original duo's chemistry....
And it's fair to say that final dance is more or less exactly how you remember it.
Looks like the only thing they've done is change the colour of Johnny's shirt....
Don't forget Dirty Dancing Live is coming to TVNZ OnDemand from May 25th - Save the show to your faves now, and get ready to have the time of your life!
