Liam Stone - Diving
Liam Stone was 17 when he first competed at the Commonwealth Games.
Stone was born in Auckland and first competed at a major international event at the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games.
At the time he was the first male diver to compete for New Zealand at the Commonwealth Games since 1998.
He was also just 17 when he appeared at Glasgow and came in seventh in the one-metre springboard event.
At the start of 2015, Stone moved to the US after receiving a four-year scholarship to the University of Tennessee. While training in this high performance environment he is also working towards a degree in Kinesiology.
In 2016, he won the one-metre springboard event at the NCAA National Championships in Atlanta, Georgia, scoring a personal best in the final round.
He was then named the Southeastern Conference Diver of the Year in 2017.
At the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games Stone will compete in the one-metre and three-metre springboard events.
