'You know if he crashes, we're sunk' - Californian firefighters anxiously watch commercial jet dump fire suppressant

October 17, 2017

Anxious California firefighters on the ground have filmed a converted passenger jet showering the fire ravaged bush beside them with red flame-squelching material.

As the converted DC-10 passenger plane comes in low just above them to dump the fires suppressant, one of the firefighters can be heard expressing his doubts over their mission near Kenwood, California.

"You know if he crashes, we’re sunk" the firefighter says.

The California wildfires are the most destructive in the state's history, killing over 40 people since they began over a week ago.
