December 11, 2017

A young victim of school bullying in the US has addressed his tormentors in a tearful video from his mother's car, and received a wave of support from sporting heroes in response.

Keaton Jones' mother, Kimberly Jones, posted the video to Facebook after picking up her son from school in Knoxville, Tennessee, as he was too scared to go to lunch because of the bullying he was being subjected to.

In the video, an emotional Keaton looks at the phone camera and asks: "Just out of curiosity, why do they bully? What's the point of it? Why do you find joy in taking innocent people and finding a way to be mean to them? It's not okay."

Asked by his mother what do they say to him, he says: "They make fun of my nose, they call me ugly, they say I have no friends."

Tears streaming down his face, Keaton says that at lunch the bullies "poured milk over me" and put their hands up his clothes.

He says other kids are being bullied too and "it's not okay", adding that people "don't need to be criticised" about being different.

Keaton's video has had over 20 million views online and the internet soon fired up with messages of support for him.

Tennessee Titans player Delanie Walker read him a poem from Buddha, and invited Keaton and his family to the New Year's Eve game in Nashville against Jacksonville.

UFC champions and commentators also sent messages of support to Keaton via Twitter.

"Hey, #KeatonJones - you have friends here at the UFC, buddy. Today and everyday," a tweet read.

Tennessee man and UFC champ Scott Holtzman wrote: "Knoxville, can someone get me in touch with this kid? I want him to come train with me when I get HOME."
