Watch: ‘We must undo this disgrace’ – former Zimbabwean leader Robert Mugabe challenges President Mnangagwa’s rise to power

March 17, 2018

Former president Robert Mugabe said yesterday he is willing to work with President Emmerson Mnangagwa, but said the new leader "must be proper".

Speaking from his home in Harare, Zimbabwe's capital, Mr Mugabe told South African broadcaster SABC he was concerned over the "illegality" of his removal and President Mnangagwa's rise to power following a military coup in November last year.

Yesterday's press conference is the first time the 94-year-old leader has been interviewed following the incident.

"We must undo this disgrace which we have imposed on ourselves.

"We don't deserve it. Please, we don't deserve it," he said.
