Watch: Thai baggage handler caught rifling through Jetstar passengers' suitcases

October 16, 2017

A baggage handler in Thailand has been arrested and charged after being caught on video rifling through Jetstar passengers' suitcases.

Authorities at Phuket International Airport sent an undercover agent into the baggage handling area to help suppress theft from luggage, and a 27-year-old man was caught doing just that.

The man was an employee of the baggage handling company BAGS, the Phuket Gazette reported, and he was arrested and charged after the video came to light.

The flight on October 10 was bound for Singapore and the man had taken a bluetooth speaker from a suitcase.

A Jetstar spokesperson told news.com.au the airline is now conducting an investigation and "taking the matter very seriously".

"We have launched an immediate investigation and will work with Airports of Thailand, our ground handler BAGS and our local security company to ensure the security of our customers' property on-board our flights."
