A cop in southern New Jersey caught the moment a meteor flew through the sky on his patrol car's dashcam.

The American Meteor Society confirmed the meteor sighting and said to have hundreds of reports of the fireball.

The fireball shot through the sky on December 2nd at around 3am (local time). 

The American Meteor Society confirmed the meteor sighting, and said to have hundreds of reports of the fireball from dozens of state, mostly from the Northeastern part of the US.

The AMS says meteors of fireballs happen often but are rarely seen.
