Authorities say two people are dead after a small plane crashed on a golf course in Mesa, Arizona.
Mesa Fire Department officials say the plane went down at Longbow Golf Club, which is northeast of Falcon Field Airport.
Footage from TV news helicopters showed the charred wreckage of the aircraft on a fairway at the golf course.
The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Board will investigate the crash.
FAA spokesman Allen Kenitzer says the Lancair Evolution plane reported mechanical trouble and was unable to reach the airport.
It crashed about 800 metres off the approach end of a runway at Falcon Field.
The names of the two people killed weren't immediately released.
