Watch: Hurricane Michael bends and snaps huge pine trees as it hits Florida

October 11, 2018

Hurricane Michael is causing major damage in Florida as it makes landfall this morning, bending and snapping tall pine tress easily.

Video captured by reporter Kirsten Fiscus, who is hunkering down at a hotel in Panama City, shows the frightening power of the storm.

Ms Fiscus said the power had been cut to her hotel, but that she was able to transmit the images using the cell network.

She tweeted that it "smells like pine" and that seeing such large trees affected like that was "awesome but equally terrifying".

The storm is expected to be one of the worst in US history.
