Watch: Driver cheats death after car utterly crushed by massive falling crane

October 18, 2017

Near-death experiences don't get much more implausible than this footage of a driver in southeast China, who had his Audi sedan utterly crushed by a huge crane.

The massive beam of the crane's arm smashes the hood of the car right over the driver and passenger's seats, in CCTV footage posted on Chinese site Pear Video.

Miraculously, the 29-year-old driver, Mr Li, can be seen squeezing out of the sunroof relatively unharmed considering the force of the crash.

Mr Li was taken to hospital and reportedly suffered fractures in his right ankle.

The incident occurred at 8:15am in Zhuhai, Guangdong Province, China on October 17 as Mr Li was driving to work.

"There was no sign at all and I think I was in a blind spot when the crane fell," Mr Li told Sohu News.

"My mind went blank and I was holding the pain when I crawled out of the car."

Zhuhai police are investigating the cause of the incident.

The car was a write off.
