Hurricane Irma has left a trail of destruction in its wake as it crosses over the Caribbean Island of Saint Martin.
Video posted to Twitter shows flattened trees and cars floating in the waters caused by the Category 5 storm surge.
Taken from the upper level of a hotel near the airport, the woman filming the carnage can be heard saying: "The airport is pretty destroyed too."
Officials warned people to seek protection from Irma's "onslaught" in a statement that closed with: "May God protect us all."
The Category 5 storm had maximum sustained winds of 295 kilometres per hour yesterday according to the US National Hurricane Centre in Miami.
