Watch: Adelaide cyclist 'lucky to be alive' after van narrowly misses him before slamming into car

March 15, 2019

An Adelaide cyclist has narrowly escaped death after a van slammed into a car as he waited at traffic lights on Wednesday.

The incident was captured on CCTV and shows the male rider waiting to turn right, when a van comes up behind him and slams into the back of the Subaru Outback also waiting to turn.

“I heard a massive bang so I came sprinting out the front and there was just carnage all the way down the road,” witness Brandon Bishop told Nine News.

“I don’t know what to say there, it was just incredible. I have never seen anything that close and someone not getting killed.”

The 22-year-old male driver of the van was left uninjured and the 35-year-old woman, hit from behind, was taken to hospital.

Police are investigating the crash.
