A US TV reporter's live cross from the scene of a sighting of a 'large cat' went brilliantly wrong when a house cat showed up and sat in front of the camera.
Fox News reporter Scott Madus went to a clearing in bush at Hernando, Mississippi, where David Sluder had captured video of a cat-like creature in the area.
In his video that had more than 400,000 views, Mr Sluder said "this cat walked out of the woods".
"It is a little hard to see but I can assure you this is not a house cat."
But when Madus and his crew set up to file a report live from the location, that's precisely what was there.
"I'm Scott Madus live in Hernando, Mississippi where there have been spottings of a cougar," he started off saying enthusiastically to the camera, before turning round to point to the scene of the sighting.
"And that's not it," he was forced to add, as a house cat sat in clear view, staring straight towards the camera.
"That looks like a house cat," a slightly bemused Madus reported as the camera stayed on the moggy.
"But we're just feet away from where a local man rolled his cellphone video on what some say is a cougar," he said, trying desperately to recover the situation.
"I'll be right back with a live report," the exasperated reporter added, bailing out of what had all the makings of a big local story.
Now the report of the report of the 'big cat' sighting has gone viral, amassing thousands of views on Twitter and Facebook.
