Shocking footage has been released showing the moment a woman got stuck in a door of a moving train on Rome's metro.
The victim, Natalya Garkovich, was left in intensive care after the train's emergency brakes failed to engage when she became trapped.
Her condition has since been downgraded.
The BBC, quoting Italian outlet Corriere della Sera, says the victim jumped off the train at the last minute, but her bag got stuck.
Other people on the platform tried to free her, to no avail.
"I know that I was wrong and I am devastated by what happened to that woman," the driver is quoted as saying.
