The destructive force of Hurricane Irma has seen the world famous airport on Saint Martin totally destroyed.
Princess Juliana International Airport is notorious for its close call landings, with passenger jets roaring only metres overhead of neighbouring Maho Beach.
Since 1990 thrill seekers and tourists have been able to stand on the beach and enjoy the spectacle and close call with aircraft.
Now footage has emerged of a flattened and flooded landscape, leaving the airport in ruin.
Wind gusts of up to 300km/h have slammed the island of Saint Martin as the Category 5 storm makes it way across the Caribbean.
