An Australian filmmaker has captured a very close encounter with a huge great white shark in Western Australia.
Filmmaker Dave Riggs recorded the footage approximately 50 metres off a beach neighbouring West Beach, one of Western Australia's busiest beaches.
Mr Riggs estimated the shark was between five and six metres long, according to news.com.au.
The footage shows the great white shark swimming around an 8.5m patrol boat.
Mr Riggs has previously filmed documentaries about sharks and he is pushing for tighter safety measures to protect beachgoers, such as acoustic tagging and better warning signs.
