Trump campaign moves to silence ex-adviser Omarosa, who says she heard Trump use N-word

August 15, 2018

Representatives for US President Donald Trump threatened an arbitration action today against former aide and fellow reality TV star Omarosa Manigault Newman, who has lambasted the administration in recent days as she promotes a new tell all book.

In an interview with The Associated Press, Ms Manigault Newman declared she would "not be silenced" or "intimidated" by the Trump campaign. She said she believes the action was intended to keep her from telling her story.

"I'm not going to be bullied by Donald Trump," she said.

Ms Manigault Newman, nonetheless, uncharacteristically declined to answer several questions about her time in the White House, citing the arbitration action. But she continued to unleash criticism of Mr Trump, suggesting he's unfit to be president and is intentionally sowing racial division.

Among her recent accusations, she has alleged she has heard Mr Trump on tape using the N-word.

White House spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders responded today that she "can't guarantee" the President has never used the word, but she called Ms Manigault Newman's claims "salacious and ridiculous".

"I haven't been in every single room," she responded when reporters asked if Mr Trump has ever used the word.

The President said earlier this week on Twitter that he doesn't "have that word in my vocabulary, and never had".

Ms Huckabee Sanders also said today that Mr Trump's tweets referring to Ms Manigault Newman as "crazed" and a "dog" reflect his "frustration" with her comments.

Ms Manigault Newman has responded that Trump has "absolutely no respect" for women or African-Americans.
