Toddler rescued from locked car in Melbourne as temperatures soar

A toddler has been rescued from a locked car in Melbourne's west today.

Firefighters found the 20-month-old boy in Derrimut alone in the locked vehicle just after 11am and forced the door open.

Paramedics were also on scene.

Melbourne is forecast to reach a top of 35C today.

Authorities have repeatedly warned children should never be left unattended in the car, as temperatures rise to dangerous levels quickly, causing serious injury or death in as little as a few minutes.
