The 37-year-old’s payout, the highest ever for defamation in Australia, was announced in the Victoria Supreme Court this morning.

It follows a well-publicised case in June, in which the magazine publisher was found to have maliciously defamed Miss Wilson in eight articles published in 2015.

The Hollywood star sued magazine publisher Bauer Media for painting her as a serial liar.

The articles claimed the Pitch Perfect star was a serial liar.

Miss Wilson had claimed more than $7 million in damages, and has previously said she would donate any payout to charity, or invest it in the Australian film industry.
