Raw: Youth inmates wield batons, allegedly set building on fire in riot at Aussie detention centre

A youth detention centre in Australia has suffered extensive damage after inmates rioted and set fire to a building.

Malmsbury Youth Justice Centre in Victoria was subject to a two-hour riot from youth prisoners who had armed themselves with batons as they occupied the roof of the facility.

Inmates repeatedly beat down windows and other sectors of the complex as well as allegedly set a building on fire yesterday afternoon before staff managed to get them under control two hours later.

No one was injured in the incident.
