A driver fleeing from police in the US is lucky to be alive after flipping a car multiple times before landing in the front yard of a New York City house.

Police attempted to pull over Danielle Fragetti, 25, as they were responding to reports of a stolen car in Staten Island last Thursday, according to the New York Daily News.

Ms Fragetti then allegedly sped up in an effort to evade police and a chase ensued.

During the chase she is reported to have nearly hit one of the pursuing patrol cars, before slamming her vehicle into a barrier.

Video footage of the incident shows the moment Ms Fragetti's vehicle launches into the air, flipping multiple times before coming to rest on a lawn.

Surprisingly, Ms Fragetti didn't receive any serious injuries in the crash.

"It's a miracle she’s alive," a witness told CBS New York.

Police say the vehicle belonged to Ms Fragetti's mother which had been reported as stolen.

Drug paraphernalia was found in the car and the 25-year-old is facing multiple charges after the incident, including reckless driving.
