Norway's capital lit up by meteor streaking across sky

Norway's capital city has been lit up by a meteor streaking across the sky and possibly hitting earth in the early hours of Sunday morning (local time).

The meteor, travelling up to 20 kilometres per second, lit up the sky for about six seconds near the capital, Oslo.

Preliminary reports suggest it may have crashed into a large wooded area west of the capital.

There have been no reports of damage.
