Three men have been charged after a video showing a shark being dragged behind a boat went viral in the United States in July.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and Hillsborough County State Attorney's Office announced 21-year-old Michael Wenzel, 28-year-old Robert Lee Benac and 23-year-old Spencer Heintz were all charged following the four-month long investigation.
The commission confirmed multiple criminal violations resulting in felony and misdemeanor charges for the trio of men.
"It is our hope these charges will send a clear message to others that this kind of behaviour involving our fish and wildlife will not be tolerated,' Commission Chairman Bo Rivard says.
