At least 40 dead and dozens wounded in Baghdad blast

A fatal car bomb explosion in Iraq's capital Baghdad has killed at least 40 people according to local police sources.

The car was loaded with explosives and blew up near a shopping mall today leaving more than 60 injured, reports DPA.

There was no initial indication on who was behind the blast.

However this is common in Baghdad, where deadly bombing attacks are often thought to be carried out by ISIS.

Crowded locations are often the target, such as markets and restaurants in Shi'ite areas as well as Shi'ite religious gatherings, report DPA.
