'Just doing my job' - Aussie cameraman violently attacked and dragged outside court

November 10, 2017

An Australian news cameraman was dragged several metres in a violent attack outside court.

A man can be seen walking up to the Nine News cameraman, Ryan Selwood, who was filming outside court in Wodonga in rural Victoria at the time, and asks "can I help you with something?"

Mr Selwood replies, "Just doing my job" before the man aggressively smacks the camera to the ground.

"The cops are going to be right there...what are you doing?" Mr Selwood says in a state of disbelief.

"Show some respect," the man can be heard telling Mr Selwood while dragging him and his camera around 50 metres inside the court.

Following the incident, Mr Selwood told Nine News, "In my time being a news cameraman, working both in regional and metro newsrooms, I’ve had confrontations before, but nothing to this extent."

"I was just doing my job and he came up to me and just stood in front of me and got up in my face," Mr Selwood said.

"A person shouldn’t go out doing their job and get threatened, and be put in that position, and be pushed around."

The man was interviewed by police over the incident.

It comes the same week another Nine journalist, reporter Maggie Raworth, was subject to a torrent of vile abuse outside Ballarat Court.
