August 22, 2018

A private jet carrying rapper Post Malone blew two tyres on takeoff from New Jersey on flight a England before making a safe emergency landing in New York.

Post Malone, real name, Austin Richard Post, thanked people for their well wishes on Twitter after landing.

"I landed guys ... thank you for your prayers," he wrote.

He also took a swipe at trolls who had wished him less than a safe landing.

"Can't believe how many people wished death on me on this website ... f*** you ... but not today."

The plane landed without incident at New York Stewart International Airport in Newburgh, about 112km north of New York City.

The plane was en route to London Luton Airport in Luton, England, when the pilot realised shortly after takeoff that the tyres had blown.

Post Malone is scheduled to perform at the Reading and Leeds Festival in England over the weekend.

The face-tattooed singer/rapper took home the song of the year award at the MTV Video Music Awards Monday night.

He performed in Auckland in January at the Trust's Stadium.
