The leader of ISIS has called for revenge attacks, following the death of 50 Muslim worshippers in attacks on two Christchurch mosques on Friday.
Having not been heard from for six months, ISIS' Abu Hassan al-Muhajir has broken his silence, releasing a 44-minute audio recording, where he discussed revenge in the wake of Friday's events, the New York Times reports.
"The scenes of the massacres in the two mosques should wake up those who were fooled, and should incite the supporters of the caliphate to avenge their religion," Abu Hassan al-Muhajir said in the audio recording.
A 28-year-old Australian man has been arrested and charged with murder over the Christchurch terror attacks.
When asked about her thoughts on the message from ISIS, Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said she had only seen "compassion" from New Zealand's Muslim community after the attacks.
"I have not heard that kind of language from the Muslim community, in fact I have heard the exact opposite," she said in a press conference today.
