April 24, 2018

The Prime Minister said New Zealand will be sending several gifts to Prince William and Kate.

With news of the arrival of Kate Middleton and Prince William's third baby overnight, social media has been flooded with humorous posts welcoming the new Prince.

The baby boy was delivered about 10pm last night, New Zealand time, with Royal officials saying the baby weighed in at eight pounds, seven ounces (3.8 kilograms).

Since then internet meme creators have been putting their skills to good use, attempting to outdo each other with the most witty post.

UK celebrities have been quick to jump in with their congratulations to the Royal couple as well.

Earlier Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern revealed the gifts she'll give to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's new baby boy, on behalf of New Zealand.

Speaking on TVNZ1's Breakfast this morning, Ms Ardern said she will send a collection of New Zealand children's books and and a handmade blanket made from New Zealand wool to Kate Middleton and Prince William for their yet to be named son.

Ms Ardern also said a family member of hers has made a white linen romper with a buzzy bee lining on it that will be sent as a gift.
