Identity of Kiwi man missing off Malaysian coast revealed

The identity of a New Zealand man who is missing after he went swimming from a yacht anchored off the coast of Malaysia has been revealed.

The search is ongoing for Robert Mark Fagan, a 63-year-old crew member, who went swimming from the yacht, which was anchored one nautical mile off Jason Bay Beach near the town of Tanjung Sedili.

Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) Southern Region deputy director (Operations), Maritime Capt Sanifah Yusof said the search area is about 10 nautical miles along the Sedili Small waters.

Maritime Capt Yusof said the man was reported missing at about 3am (6am NZT) Wednesday.

Mr Yusof said a rescue operation was launched immediately after they were notified about the disappearance by a friend of the missing Kiwi.
