A woman is speaking to West Australian police after security camera footage captured a four-year-old child riding on the roof racks of a car along a major motorway in Perth, with his mother completely oblivious that he was there.
Motorists attempted to alert the 36-year-old repeatedly as the silver Holden travelled along Wright Road, in Harrisdale, on Friday at 5.45pm, 9 News reports.
In the video, the child, wearing only a nappy, could be seen sitting on top of the moving vehicle.
After motorists managed to get the child's attention, the driver stopped and placed the boy in the car, next to two other children who were already restrained inside, before driving away from the scene.
Witnesses said the child "seemed fine and looked like he was enjoying himself".
Reported sightings of the Holden Captiva with the child on top suggest that the incident lasted around 10 minutes.
Police are now investigating.
