Police in Rockford, Illinois have released footage of a dramatic shootout at a bank that saw a security guard kill a would-be armed robber.
Authorities yesterday announced the guard, Brian Harrison, would not face charges over the incident at the Alpine Bank in January.
He exchanged gunfire with Laurence Turner after the ski mask-wearing thug burst into the bank waving a gun.
"There is no doubt in my mind the actions of Brian Harrison saved the lives of those that were employees in the Alpine Bank location on that date and saved his own life," Winnebago County State's Attorney Joe Bruscato told WALB.
Turner, suspected of several other armed robberies, died in the bank's doorway after being struck in the buttocks and stomach by bullets.
Harrison, a former policeman, is expected to return to work this week.
