Fresh hope for Alzheimer's sufferers over drug that could slow disease

October 27, 2019

A ground breaking drug that appears to slow the progress of Alzheimer's is offering fresh hope to dementia sufferers.

A trial was called off earlier this year, but a review of the data's revealed positive results.

The BBC's Fergus Walsh spoke to one patient who took the drug, before it was pulled.

The drug, Aducanumab isn't available in New Zealand as it's still in the trial stage.

But Alzheimer's New Zealand has called it the first positive news in dementia treatment in more than a decade.
