A large explosion hit fuel tanks on the periphery of Cairo International Airport today, according to local reports.
The cause could not be immediately confirmed but a large ball of fire was seen emanating from a nearby chemical facility.
The dramatic blast was heard across parts of the city and was captured by amateur filmmakers.
Local officials said traffic at the airport remained unaffected.
