Disgraced actor Kevin Spacey hit with further claims of sexual assault after 20 Old Vic staff come forward

November 17, 2017

Disgraced American actor Kevin Spacey has been hit with more allegations of sexual assault after London's Old Vic theatre received the testimonies of 20 members of staff citing inappropriate behaviour by the actor.

Those involved in the allegations said they "felt unable to raise concerns" and that the 58-year-old actor had "operated without sufficient accountability".

The complaints surfaced in an investigation following claims the Oscar winner had preyed on young actors in the theatre's bar.

Mr Spacey began performing at the London theatre in the 1990s and served as its artistic director from 2004 to 2015.

It comes after last month's allegation that Mr Spacey had made sexual advances on then-14-year-old actor Anthony Rapp in 1986.

The Old Vic theatre confirmed in a media release that there were "allegations of a range of inappropriate behaviour" but that “it has also not been possible to verify any of these allegations".

However, the theatre has apologised to the complainants, which read: “The investigation found that his stardom and status at The Old Vic may have prevented people, and in particular junior staff or young actors, from feeling that they could speak up or raise a hand for help".

“The Old Vic truly apologises for not creating an environment or culture where people felt able to speak freely".

In a statement released earlier this month, Mr Spacey's publicist said, "Kevin Spacey is taking the time necessary to seek evaluation and treatment. No other information is available at this time.”
