British neo-Nazi couple who named baby after Adolf Hitler jailed

December 19, 2018

A neo-Nazi couple whose baby's middle name was chosen in honour of Adolf Hitler have been jailed.

Adam Thomas, 22, and Claudia Patatas, 38, from Banbury, in Oxfordshire, were jailed alongside six others for being members of National Action, a terrorist group which was banned in December 2016, The Independent reports.

Thomas was jailed for six-and-a-half years for his involvement with the group, while Patatas was jailed for five.

During sentencing at Birmingham Crown Court, Judge Melbourne Inman QC told Patatas she was "equally extreme" in her views and actions as her partner.

"You acted together in all you thought, said and did, in the naming of your son and the disturbing photographs of your child, surrounded by symbols of Nazism and the Ku Klux Klan."

The neo-Nazi pair have been convicted of being members of a banned terrorist group.

Photographs found on electronic devices seized by authorities show Thomas cradling their newborn son while wearing hooded white robes.

He also had a terrorist manual with instructions on how to make bombs.
