11,000 scientists warn of 'untold human suffering' if climate emergency isn't addressed

Scientists from around the world have joined forces to declare a global climate emergency.

In total, 11,000 scientists have joined forces in making the declaration.

The group says we need deep and lasting changes led by governments or we'll face "untold human suffering".

Almost 200 New Zealand scientists and researchers are part of the group making the declaration.

As the BBC's David Shukman reports in the video above, for the UK climate change is becoming a vital election issue.
