North Island, fine and cloudy areas. A few showers for Taranaki, Kapiti and Wellington. South Island, a few showers in the north and west, clearing in the north. Sunny breaks and variable high cloud elsewhere.

Wednesday

North Island, mainly fine, but a few showers for Taranaki,Kapiti and Wellington. Gale northerlies for Wellington. South Island, high cloud in the east, with scattered late rain in the south. Rain setting in west of the divide, possibly heavy.Northerlies rising to gale in exposed places.

Thursday

North Island, becoming cloudy and showers developing in central and southern areas. Fine in the north. South Island, rain for most places clearing, becoming fine.

Chatham Islands

Cloudy periods and the odd shower on Tuesday and Wednesday, with northwesterlies changing southwest Tuesday, then dying. Northerlies developing Thursday, then brief rain later in the day with winds changing southwest again.

Northland to Wellington, including Coromandel, Bay of Plenty and the central high country

Cloudy periods and isolated showers.

Gisborne and Hawkes Bay

Fine, with some high cloud tomorrow.

Wairarapa, Nelson, Marlborough and Canterbury
