North Island, cloud increasing and a few showers developing in the west, turning to rain in Northland later. Mainly fine in the east, just a few spots of rain in Hawkes Bay and Gisborne later. South Island, a few showers in the west. Cloudy periods elsewhere, with scattered rain in the south.

Monday

Rain developing in western areas, heavy falls possible in Northland, Coromandel Peninsula and Bay of Plenty. Scattered light rain elsewhere.

Chatham Islands

Rain clearing early Saturday, but remaining mostly cloudy through to Monday. Northwesterlies dying out on Sunday. Northeasterlies developing later on Monday.

Northland to Taranaki, including Coromandel Peninsula, Bay of Plenty and Taupo

Rain, heavy at times, with localised downpours from Northland to north Taranaki. Rain gradually easing tomorrow.

Whanganui and Taihape to Wellington

Rain today, possibly heavy. A few showers tomorrow.

Gisborne to Wairarapa

Rain, clearing Wairarapa early tomorrow, and elsewhere in the evening.

Marlborough and Nelson

Showers today, possibly heavy with isolated thunderstorms. Mainly fine with isolated showers tomorrow.

Buller to Fiordland

Isolated showers, and increasing fine spells.

Canterbury

Mainly fine, but isolated showers in the afternoon and evening, some possibly heavy today with thunderstorms.

Otago and Southland
