Wednesday

North Island, showers, clearing from Auckland down to Bay of Plenty and North Taranaki, snow lowering to 2 or 300 metres in south and east. South Island, showers in the south and east with snow level to 2 or 300 metres, fine elsewhere.

Thursday

North Island, fine spells but showers south of Taranaki to East Cape and north of Auckland, snow to 200 metres in the east. South Island, showers in the south and east with snow to 2 or 300 metres, fine elsewhere.

Friday

Mainly fine from Auckland to Bay of Plenty and North Taranaki, showers elsewhere becoming less frequent, snow lifting in the east. South Island, showers in the south and east clearing, fine elsewhere.

Chatham Islands

Occasional showers becoming sleety on Wednesday and westerlies turning southwest. Strong cold southerlies and sleety showers on Thursday and Friday.

Northland to Taupo, including Bay of Plenty

Rain developing overnight or in the morning. A few heavy falls and thunderstorms possible tomorrow.

Taumarunui, Taranaki, Taihape, Wanganui and Manawatu

Periods of rain, sometimes heavy. Snow lowering to 600 metres tomorrow night, affecting high country roads.

Gisborne

Showers tomorrow.

Hawkes Bay, Wairarapa, Horowhenua, Kapiti and Wellington

Rain developing tomorrow. Snow lowering to 300 metres about Wellington and Wairarapa in the evening, and 600 metres elsewhere, affecting higher roads.

Nelson and Marlborough

Showers tomorrow, but long fine spells from afternoon. Snow lowering to 200 metres in the evening.

Buller and Westland

Showers, with snow to 400 metres, clearing tomorrow morning.

Canterbury and North Otago

Mainly fine. Sleet or snow showers developing about the coast and North Canterbury tomorrow evening.

Central Otago, Dunedin, Clutha, Southland and Fiordland

Occasional sleet or snow showers, but long fine spells about northern Fiordland and Central Otago.
