North Island, some rain or showers for most, easing later. Dry in the east with high cloud. South Island, occasional rain in the northwest, clearing at night. Drizzle for Fiordland, then late rain. Mainly fine elsewhere, but morning low cloud or fog.


North Island, the odd shower in the far north and east. Showers clearing elsewhere and becoming fine. South Island, early heavy rain for Fiordland, then a few showers. Showers developing in southern Westland, Southland and Clutha. Mainly fine elsewhere.

Chatham Islands

On Friday, cloudy periods, with northerlies developing. On Saturday, often cloudy, with a few showers developing at night. Northwesterlies changing southwest overnight. On Sunday, few morning showers, then fine. Southerlies dying out.

Northland to Whanganui, including Bay of Plenty and the central high country

Fine and cloudy periods, with the odd shower, especially tomorrow. Areas of morning fog south of Auckland.

Gisborne, Hawkes Bay and Wairarapa

Increasing high cloud. Scattered rain about Wairarapa and southern Hawkes Bay tomorrow.

Manawatu to Wellington

Cloudy periods and the odd shower today. Rain developing tomorrow morning, possibly heavy for a time, then easing later.

Nelson and Marlborough

Rain with some heavy falls overnight and tomorrow morning, then easing.

Canterbury, Otago and Southland

Patchy rain overnight, but becoming fine tomorrow.

Buller and Westland

Rain with some heavy falls, clearing in the south overnight, but a few showers remaining in Buller and northern Westland tomorrow.
