North Island, cloudy periods with isolated showers in the north and west. Fine elsewhere. South Island, showers in the west, turning to rain in Fiordland later. Mainly fine with early frosts elsewhere. However, a few showers and gale westerlies for a time about Southland coast.

Tuesday

North Island, cloudy periods with isolated showers in the north and west. Fine elsewhere. South Island, rain in the west, possibly heavy at first, easing to a few showers. High cloud and isolated showers elsewhere, but mostly cloudy with a few showers in the Far South.

Wednesday

Cloudy periods with isolated showers for most, but mainly fine in Canterbury High Country and Otago.

Chatham Islands

Often cloudy with occasional showers on Monday and Tuesday, then fine spells increasing on Wednesday. Strong southwesterlies easing later on Monday, then turning northwesterly early Tuesday and becoming strong in the afternoon. A southwest change early Wednesday, easing later.

Northland to Horowhenua, including Coromandel Peninsula, Bay of Plenty, Taupo, Taumarunui and Taihape

A few showers, mainly in the west, some heavy with possible thunderstorms in Waitomo and Waikato this afternoon and evening. Showers gradually clearing to fine tomorrow.

Gisborne to Wairarapa, also Wellington, Kapiti, Nelson and Marlborough

A few showers spreading from the south from tonight, gradually clearing tomorrow and becoming fine. Westerly gales in exposed parts of Wairarapa and southern Hawkes Bay, easing overnight tonight.

Canterbury

Showers spreading from the south this afternoon, some heavy with hail and possible thunderstorms about the coast, clearing early tomorrow morning and becoming fine.

Otago and Southland, also Buller, Westland and Fiordland

Scattered showers, some heavy, retreating to Southland by early tomorrow morning and becoming fine elsewhere. Remaining showers clearing tomorrow afternoon.

Chatham Islands

A few showers turning to rain with heavy falls tonight, turning to showers, some heavy with hail, tomorrow morning.
