Thursday

North Island, rain with some heavy falls, possibly falling as snow about the Desert Road, easing to a few showers north of Taupo and clearing in the east. South Island, fine in the west, scattered rain in the east.

Friday

North Island, showers, especially in Northland and south of Taihape, gradually clearing most places during the day. South Island, showers in the east becoming isolated, mainly fine elsewhere.

Saturday

North Island, becoming mainly fine, isolated showers in Northland and in the south and east at first. South Island, mainly fine but a few showers for Fiordland and coastal Southland.

Chatham Islands

Rain developing on Thursday, with some heavy falls and possible thunderstorms on Friday, turning to showers on Saturday. Easterly winds developing on Thursday, tending northerly then to gale southerlies during Friday, before easing a little on Saturday.
