North Island: Mainly fine, chance of a few showers in the north. South Island: Rain in the west, possibly heavy in Fiordland later. Mainly fine elsewhere, apart from a few spots of rain in the far south.


North Island: Cloud increasing. A few showers developing in the northwest, late rain in Taranaki and Wellington. South Island: Rain in the west, possibly heavy. A few spots of rain elsewhere, more frequent in the south.


North Island: Rain developing everywhere, possibly heavy in central areas. South Island: Rain in the west, clearing south of the Glaciers. Showers developing in the east.

Chatham Islands

Cloudy periods, with a few showers early Wednesday and on Friday. Northwesterlies, becoming strong on Friday.

Northland, Coromandel, Gisborne and northern Hawkes Bay

Mostly cloudy with a few showers, clearing from most places tomorrow.

The remainder of the North Island

Mainly fine apart from areas of cloud. A few showers possible about Auckland, Waikato and western Bay of Plenty this evening.

Nelson, Marlborough, Canterbury and Otago

Fine, with areas of high cloud. Areas of low cloud or fog about eastern parts of Canterbury and Otago, clearing tomorrow morning.

Westland and Fiordland

Cloudy. Periods of rain in Westland, spreading to some parts of Fiordland tomorrow.


Fine, with increasing high cloud. Rain developing about coastal Southland tomorrow evening.

Chatham Islands

Cloudy periods. A few showers tomorrow.


Northeast 15 knots, becoming variable 10 knots this morning. Sea slight. Easterly swell 3 metres, easing. Fair visibility in a few showers, easing this morning.

Outlook following 3 days: Becoming Wednesday morning variable 10 knots everywhere. Developing early Thursday northerly 15 knots, rising late Thursday 25 knots. Becoming Friday westerly 20 knots but 30 knots in the north. Sea rough at times. Moderate easterly swell easing Wednesday.
