December 18, 2017

Venus was sharing some Christmas cheer by gifting Joshua Wilmer a trip to Australian Open finals today in Auckland.

Halberg sportsman of the year nominee Michael Venus was sharing some Christmas cheer today at the ASB Tennis Centre in Parnell, Auckland.

The Kiwi tennis doubles player surprised 13-year-old Joshua Wilmer and his family with a trip to the Australian Open finals next year.

"It's unbelievable to see the joy and excitement on their faces, it's something that is so special," said Venus.

Wilmer was born with a missing arm but that hasn't stopped him from getting involved in sport.

He previously took out the triathlon and won archery awards at the annual Halberg Junior Disability Games.

The Australian Open runs from January 15-28.
