Kiwi Michael Venus has booked his spot in the ASB Classic doubles final after he and partner Raven Klaasen defeated the American duo of Bob and Mike Bryan.
Going into the match as the last remaining Kiwi representative in his hometown tournament, Venus and Klaasen were made to work for their opening set, 6-4, as the legendary Bryan brothers struggled early on.
From there it was all downhill, with Venus and Klaasen taking the second set 6-1, cementing their spot in the final.
"It was one of those nights where everything you talk about beforehand and everything you work on in practice, it all falls in place," Venus said afterwards.
"I feel like we didn't put a foot wrong tonight."
The pair will be up against Japan's Ben McLachlan, and Germany's Jan-Lennard Struff, who eliminated the tournament's top seeded duo, Austria's Oliver Marach and Croatia's Mate Pavic in a three set thriller.
