ASB Classic stars pitch in for Australian bushfire victim support

January 16, 2020

Serena Williams, Coco Gauff and Eugenie Bouchard are all chipping in to raise funds.

Some of the ASB Classic's biggest-name competitors are doing their bit to help the victims of the Australian bushfires, so far having raised almost $90,000 by auctioning off equipment donated by players.

Following last week's women's draw, star names such as Coco Gauff, Eugenie Bouchard and champion Serena Williams have put various items up for grabs on Trade Me , with   all proceeds to be donated to the Australian Red Cross.

Williams also chipped in by donating her entire tournament winnings to the Red Cross, her first tournament win since 2017.

Across the Tasman, some of tennis' biggest names also turned out for the 'Rally for Relief' in Melbourne.

Williams was again involved, this time joined by Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Caroline Wozniacki. It was an event masterminded by local hero Nick Kyrgios.
