American Tennys Sandgren is through to the final of the men’s ASB Classic after defeating Germany’s Philipp Kohlschreiber 6-4, 6-2 this afternoon in Auckland.

The 27-year-old American dispatched his rival in straight sets in one hour and 11 minutes, in sweltering conditions.

Kohlschreiber showed great fight throughout the match, but the 35-year-old just couldn't keep up with his younger rival.

The German won the ASB Classic tournament in 2008.
