'When you get beaten, it hurts' – All Blacks 'gutted' after Ireland defeat

November 18, 2018

Steve Hansen's men suffered a 16-9 loss in Dublin.

In the wake of their 16-9 loss to Ireland in Dublin this morning, the All Blacks are seriously hurting, according to coach Steve Hansen.

Having not lost a game on their end of year northern tour, the All Blacks were humbled at Aviva Stadium - kept try-less by a fired up Ireland side, who would go on to win their first ever home clash against New Zealand.

Speaking to media after the match, Hansen described how his side were handling the defeat.

"Obviously they're disappointed," he began.

"You don't win as many rugby matches as this All Black team, and then when you get beaten it hurts - regardless of who you play or how well the opposition have played.

"The simple answer is it's very quiet, sombre. People are gutted, and that's they way it should be.

"It's how you should feel when you get beaten and you want to win."
