'I wouldn't listen to what he’s got to say' - Brodie Retallick reacts to Sam Cane's remarks about reading news stories about himself

August 21, 2018

All Blacks flanker Cane made the remarks teammate Retallick on Sunday.

All Blacks lock Brodie Retallick advised media at a press conference this afternoon in Auckland, to not take anything in his teammate Sam Cane has to say about him.

The 27-year-old lock had a sensational performance in his return in the black jersey, in the first Bledisloe Cup Test against Australia in Sydney on Saturday and even got a try to boot.

During Sunday's media session Cane said Retallick is always needing reminders by his teammates to be humble after performing well on the rugby pitch.

"It's our role to bring him back down to ground, he reads a lot of his own articles and stuff like that," Cane said on Sunday.

"And that's the danger."

When Retallick was asked about the remark by 1 NEWS, the hulking lock was quick to fire back some barbs of his own about Cane.

The All Blacks prop is set to bring up his 100th Test cap, but has yet to score a try in his international career.

"He is way off the mark there," said Retallick.

"I wouldn't listen to what he has got to say."

The All Blacks host the Wallabies at Eden Park on Saturday and have a chance to lock away the Bledisloe Cup for the 17th consecutive year.
