'Whoever wins will be the best in the world' – All Blacks v Ireland will decide rugby's top dog, says Steve Hansen

November 12, 2018

The first- and second-ranked sides will face off in Dublin this weekend.

Despite what the world ranking's say, whoever wins this weekend's clash between the All Blacks and Ireland can consider themselves the best side on the planet, according to coach Steve Hansen.

With the All Blacks having arrived in Dublin for Sunday morning's showdown at Aviva Stadium, the rugby world wait with baited breath for the match-up between the first- and second-ranked sides on the planet.

Speaking to media in Dublin, Hansen said that rankings mean very little, with Sunday's winner taking the bragging rights into next year's World Cup in Japan.

"It's one and two, whoever wins will be the best side in the world," Hansen began.

"Regardless of rankings, that's the mental state that people will take out of it.

"It's gonna be a goodie."

Hansen also spoke about his admiration for Ireland, who by far play the most expansive game out of the major European sides.

"They win, there's a lot to like about that.

"They've built a game that suits them, and they've got a lot of depth. They lost [Sean] O'Brien yesterday, and a fella comes on and plays just as good.

"They're a good, strong side."

The All Blacks and Ireland will face off on Sunday morning NZT.
