'We go way back' – Jack Goodhue comfortable with Ryan Crotty combination

November 16, 2018

The two Crusaders midfielders will start together for the All Blacks against Ireland.

All Blacks centre Jack Goodhue is relishing linking up with Crusaders teammate Ryan Crotty in the midfield, with the two to start in this weekend's Test match against Ireland in Dublin.

With Sonny Bill Williams out of Sunday morning's clash, Crotty will partner Goodhue in the All Blacks' midfield for the first time, despite their success at Super Rugby level with the Crusaders.

Asked about his combination with Crotty as the All Blacks fronted the European media this morning, Goodhue said he was more than comfortable with his club partner alongside him at Test level.

"Me and Ryan, we almost go way back now," he began.

"A couple of years in Super Rugby, he's a good mate of mine. [I'm] looking forward to playing with him.

"His communication skills are great, [it] feels like he compliments my game, just from his work rate, and [he] creates space for me.

"It's going to be good."
